Even better than the posters Richard Beardy Branson and his cronies have unleashed Don’t Go Zombie, onto the world a great game which uses Google Street View to turn your area into a zombie horror movie.
Game play lets you zap zombie drivers wandering your street and save their souls by transporting them onto trains. With three difficulty levels to choose from this game is great fun and will keep you more than occupied over a work lunch break or 13.

Vampire Kittens is a flash game on the E4 web-site, the object of which is quite simple. Kick your blood sucking kitten as far as you can to get the most points.
To start, you control the power that the dismembered leg puts into the punt, (hopefully) sending the long toothed kitten high into the sky.
Unfortunately for the kitten, they don’t have the ability to fly (most vampires do) but they are vulnerable to all kinds of vampire attack, such as stake through the heart and garlic, which is a bit unfair on animal.

You can boost or slow the progress of the flying feline as it bounces along. And there are bonuses that can also speed up or slow down your progress.
Shame there isn’t an actual leaderboard – I was quite good. Still, good fun!

Mouse of the dead

This game is very slick. Somehow they manage to mix real-time video with funky cartoon graphics to create a really abosrbing shoot-em-up game.
You control this hero mouse thing, and you basically go around shooting the zombie mice, bats and anything else that looks nasty. There are lots of cool weapons to pick up, and you get a great deal of satisfaction from blowing all of those nasty little baddies away.
It is kind of hard, but the controls are simple, just point and shoot!

More Zombies

Zombies love to eat brains. We all know that. But did you know that they also like hot dogs? Well, they do. In More Zombies, you play as a hot dog stall owner who has to fight to protect his beloved sausages from being destroyed by waves of the undead.
You have a load of weapons to choose from, and have the ability to switch between melee weapons and ones that shoot. You also have full control over the movement of your character as he has to protect his stall from all angles – which makes it quite a challenge.
There’s lots of gore, explosions and heavy guitar music to enjoy, so what are you waiting for? Get stuck in!

Transylmania 2

I think I might have played the first game, but wasn’t overly impressed. However, this little bundle of amusement was quite entertaining and sucked me right in.

It’s a nice, simple platform game, very much in the style of Mario, but your character has the ability to bite and ultimately kill people. I never knew that being a cute little vampire could be so much fun!

Avoid the stakes and flaming torches as you run (and fly) about the place collecting items and ultimately looking for your lost teddy.

It’s great fun and really nicely put together. Have a go now!

Sonny 2

Definitely one for the more serious gamer, Sonny 2 is a very complex and challenging RPG, and if you allow it to, it will get you really absorbed.

You control Sonny, a zombie, and his friend(s) as they travel around generally looking for answers and kicking butt. As you progress in the game, you gain new powers, find new weapons and equipment and develop your character in order to make yourself even more bad-ass.
I got really into this one for a while and finished it. You can save your progress which means that you can always come back later!

The Infection

You’re sent into a laboratory somewhere to find out what has happened to an experiment that went horribly wrong. What you find is a hellish environment where weird little headless piglets try to nibble you and crazed scientists try to shoot you. Okay, so it doesn’t sound like the most exciting of games, but it is actually pretty cool.
There are lots of good weapons for you to pick up and use, and being a platform shooter, you have to make sure that you’re timing your jumping and running right too.

It gets pretty tough, and has some scary bosses to beat. Plus, there is blood and gore just about everywhere. Just the sort of thing to relieve some stress in the office!

Monster Bash

It looks cool, it’s easy as anything to pick up, and it’s just straight forward, old fashioned, skull bashing fun! Welcome to Monster Bash.
You control a rather cute monster in an impressive 3D environment. You task: to smack skulls with a club as far as possible. It might not sound like much, but I was instantly hooked.
“What do you mean I should be working” I said to my boss, “what do you mean my time is up” I told the people in the internet cafe, “what do you mean I’m married” I told my wife. No matter how hard you try, you’ll want to keep going at this one, to see just how far you can hit those bones.
The graphics are very cool, and there is even an excellent spooky soundtrack.

Spooky Hoops

Okay, not the greatest game out of the lot, but still good fun. This game take a nice normal sport like basketball and turns it into something really halloweenerrific!
You control a Frankenstein’s monster type character and you task is to dribbe around the court, avoiding skeletons and collecting jack-o-lanterns.
When you have collected the pumpkins, you’re free to shoot for the hoop, and when you do, you get to the next level.
It’s simple, it’s fun, and it looks very cool. Might not have the staying power of the others, but it’s still worth checking out!

So, what better way to start, but with a game that is actually called ‘All Hallows Eve?!

All Hallows Eve

Initially, this game might not look so great, as it’s pretty old, but bear with me people, it’s all part of a gaming evolution.

The game was made in 2004, and initially, you will not be impressed. The title screen does little to entice you in.
However, once playing, you get hooked very quickly.

The objective is simple, protect your home from the approaching zombies using your trusty gun. If you let them break down your barricades, your brains are breakfast.

I think it’s the simplicity that I like about this game. On closer analysis, the graphics are pretty impressive, in a cute kind of way. The animation is excellent as you can aim for the torso, limbs or head shots. And best of all are the sound effects. When the bullets hit, you feel satisfied. Perhaps worryingly so. And the moans of ‘brains’ and ‘hungry’ really add to the atmosphere.

At the end of each level, you can add to your arsenal and build up your defenses as the zombies get progressively bigger and badder.

The game is a little gory, but not disturbing.

The Last Stand

Next up, is a game which I feel must have been inspired in some part, by All Hallows Eve.

The Last Stand grabs you from the off. The intro graphics and music are ominous and are reminiscent of the ‘Living Dead’ films.

And the game doesn’t take any prisoners either. The zombies are tough. They take lots more shots to bring down, and head shots are relatively hard to come by. There are numerous zombies from all walks of life, from fat people to clergymen.
And there are even runners, the odd zombie that sprints to your barricade. Add to this zombie-dogs, and you will soon see how there’s no time to relax whilst playing this one.

The graphics are still ‘cartoon’ but are more realistic. And this time, the perspective is side scrolling, so you get to move your character about more.

Don't just stand there! SHOOT!

At the end of each round you can search for things to help you survive. In addition to fire-arms, and repairs, you can also search for other survivors and once on board, they help you to defend your area. Until of course, the barricade comes down, and they flee.

Eventually, the game gets really hard, as you have zombie soldiers with bullet proof vests and helmets coming for you.
However, give it time, and this game will really suck you in (and suck out your brains!).

Pretty hardcore, not for kids or wimps!

The Last Stand 2

Okay, as if the first one wasn’t scary enough, this installment is a big improvement on its predecessor.
Taking up from the end of episode 1 when you killed all of the zombies and escaped… You did complete episode 1 didn’t you?
Anyway, your escape helecopter goes down and you end up right in the thick of it all again.

The intro screen looks kind of similar, and the concept is pretty much the same, but don’t be fooled into thinking that this one will be any easier.

They manage to improve lots of little things. One of my favourites, it the ability to assign your survivor buddies (when you find them) with different guns.
So, rather than having to put up with their lame pistols, why not share your uzi or shot gun with them?

Also, to add to the pressure and suspense, you’re working against the clock this time.
Just killing the zombies isn’t good enough. This time you have to find food supplies (between rounds) to keep moving accross the map. There’s a ferry that’s waiting to take you to freedom accross the zombie filled landscape. But if you miss it, you’re as good as dead.

The graphics are improved and there are more cool weapons. But the zombies are faster, and you’re thrown straight into things with dogs and running zombies everywhere.
Definitely the best of this bunch, but make sure that you’ve played the others first. They provide you with the vital training needed for the endless onslaught that you experience here!

Could give you nightmares and/or mental issues.
