And they’re off. The shops are now stocking up in preparation for Halloween 2010 and winner for ‘first to the post’ this year (to the best of my knowledge) Marks and Spencer!
There I was, minding my own business, using M&S as a cut through – as we all do – on the way back to the car park when I suddenly saw that familiar, warm orangy glow that could only be a jack-o-lantern. Imagine my excitement!

At last, the long wait is over.
Dark forces (namely Royal Mail) seemed to be trying to prevent me from featuring my big box of Asda goodies.
But at the weekend they finally arrived and I was very pleased with what greeted me. It seems that Asda have been doing their homework again and have found a few really good, novel ideas for this year’s stock.

Unless you actually are a spider, creating a realistic-looking spider web is very difficult. And at no time is this more important than Halloween.
You can of course invest in a web-gun which can give you effects to rival the webs that you see in the movies. But, the guns aren’t cheap, and they can be a bit complicated to use.
I don’t know about you, but I always tend to go with the cotton-wool type stuff, which you can buy from most costume shops. I even go that little extra and opt for fluorescent webbing, which looks great under the blacklight.

A quick and simple tip for all of those people out there who want to make their homes look especially haunted, but not break the bank.
Lighting. It’s often overlooked, and people generally think “Halloween… Darkness is spookiest”.
However, I feel that the right kind of lighting can cause real un-ease – perfect on all Hallowes Eve!
First off, the simple ones. Gels.
These sheets of transparent plastic come in a wide range of colours, and are famously used by people in the video/photographic business.
