This year I have been researching various sources including cookery programmes on TV, books and of course the web to find the most awesome Halloween cocktail recipes. From this extensive search, I have scrupulously noted down ingredients, instructions, and have used personal taste to change certain elements (and improve the taste) in order to put together great new list of alcoholic Halloween cocktail receipes for you Halloween party goers.

Remember kids, in most cases these cocktails are a lot stronger than your regular alcoholic beverage, so please drink responsibly!

9 Great Halloween Cocktail Recipes

Witch doctor

A great West Indian style cocktail for lovers of rum. A Halloween cocktail with a real kick!

  • 2 dashes bitters
  • 4 small chunks fresh papaya
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 2 tsp vanilla syrup
  • 2 tsp falernum syrup (traditional sweet syrup used in the Caribbean, flavoured with lime, almond, ginger and spices)
  • 1 tbsp dry orange liqueur
  • 4 tsp Jamaican white rum
  • 4 tsp Trinidadian golden rum
  • 4 tsp Barbados dark rum
  • 25ml/1fl oz mango juice
  • 25ml/1fl oz guava juice
  • To garnish: 2 fresh pineapple leaves

Method

  1. Place all of the ingredients, except the garnish, into a cocktail shaker and top up with ice.
  2. Shake well and strain the liquid into a cocktail glass filled with ice.
  3. To serve, garnish with pineapple leaves.

Grey Lady

This is a Halloween cocktail that really does have tea (Earl Grey – hence the name) in it!

Ingredients

  • 25ml/1fl oz lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp Earl Grey tea syrup (available from specialist suppliers)
  • 1 tsp black tea liqueur (available from specialist suppliers)
  • 50ml/2fl oz gin
  • Lemon slice, to garnish

Method

  1. Place the lemon juice, Earl Grey syrup, black tea liqueur and gin into a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice cubes. Shake well and strain into a large Martini glass.
  2. Garnish with a lemon slice and serve.

Corpse Reviver

Ingredients

  • Splash of absinthe, to rinse the glass
  • 25ml/1fl oz brandy
  • 25ml/1fl oz calvados
  • 25ml/1fl oz sweet vermouth
  • Ice, to taste

Method

  1. Pour a splash of absinthe into a Martini glass and swirl around to rinse the glass, pouring out any excess liquid.
  2. Place the brandy, calvados, sweet vermouth and ice into a cocktail shaker and shake hard.
  3. Pour the drink into the prepared Martini glass and serve straightaway.

Zombie Punch

When you have a lot of guests coming, a punch is a great way to cater for everyone.

  • 10 tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 300ml/10½fl oz lemon juice
  • 300ml/10½fl oz white rum
  • 300ml/10½fl oz gold rum
  • 300ml/10½fl oz demerara rum (preferably 151 proof)
  • 300ml/10½fl oz pineapple juice
  • 300ml/10½fl oz lime juice
  • 300ml/10½fl oz passion fruit syrup
  • 8-10 dashes bitters
  • 1 pineapple

To serve

  • 1 large pumpkin, top removed and flesh and seeds carved out and discarded, optional
  • 1 lemon, cut into eight pieces
  • 1 lime, cut into eight pieces

Method

  1. Place the brown sugar and the lemon juice into a jug and stir to dissolve.
  2. Place the lemon mixture and all the other ingredients into a large bowl and stir well.
  3. Either serve the punch in the bowl or pour into the hollowed-out pumpkin. Add the lemon and lime pieces and serve.

Vampire Killer

A Halloween cocktail that actually contains garlic! Excellent to keep away any unwanted blood-sucking guests.

Ingredients

  • 35ml/1½fl oz cognac
  • 1 tbsp apricot brandy
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled
  • Ginger beer, to top up
  • Lime wedge, to garnish

Method

  1. Place the cognac, apricot brandy, lemon juice and whole garlic clove into a cocktail shaker and shake well, but avoid crushing the garlic.
  2. To serve, strain into a highball glass and top up with ginger beer. Garnish with a wedge of lime.

White Lady

This is one Halloween cocktail that may well haunt you the next day.

Ingredients

  • 50ml/2fl oz gin
  • 25ml/1fl oz orange liqueur
  • ½ free-range egg white
  • 25ml/1fl oz lemon juice
  • 1 tsp sugar syrup

Method

  1. Place the gin, orange liqueur, egg white, lemon juice and sugar syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well.
  2. Strain into a sour glass.

Black Widow

A Halloween cocktail with real bite.

  • 55ml/2fl oz black vodka
  • 200ml/7fl oz orange juice
  • 20ml/¾fl oz passion fruit syrup

Method

  1. Pour the orange juice and passion fruit syrup into tall glass.
  2. Very carefully pour the black vodka onto the top, so that it floats on top of the fruit juices to leave a two-tiered drink.
  3. Place the gin, orange liqueur, egg white, lemon juice and sugar syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well.
  4. Strain into a sour glass.

Blue Banshee

A Halloween cocktail that will leave you screaming for more!

Ingredients

  • 35ml/1¼fl oz citrus vodka
  • 1 tbsp blue curaçao
  • 20ml/¾fl oz white cranberry juice
  • 20ml/¾fl oz white grape juice
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • Method

    1. Place all of the ingredients, except the sugar, into a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice and shake well.
    2. Moisten the rim of a Martini glass, then dip the rim into the sugar to lightly coat.
    3. Strain the cocktail into the Martini glass and serve.

    Witchcraft

    Ingredients

    • 25ml/1fl oz black vodka
    • 1 tbsp lemon juice
    • 2 tsp vanilla syrup
    • 25ml/1fl oz blackberry liqueur
    • 25ml/1fl oz fresh apple juice

    To garnish

    • 1 lychee, peeled
    • ½ tsp strawberry jam
    • 1 blueberry

    Method

    1. Place the vodka, lemon juice, vanilla syrup, blackberry liqueur and apple juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well. Pour into a cocktail glass.
    2. To garnish, cut a small hole into the lychee. Fill with strawberry jam, then stick the blueberry into the jam to create an ‘eyeball’. Float the ‘eyeball’ in the cocktail and serve.
